French Club
A dynamic French Club led by an exchange graduate student from Paris organizes a variety of extra-curricular events involving students at all levels. These include excursions to New York City, Boston, and Montreal, as well as French, Caribbean, and African dinners. Each year we host about twenty French students from France and from French-speaking countries who take classes at UConn and participate in the activities of the French Club. Many of the members usually participate in the French play, a full production organized with a French faculty member. Students receive academic credit for their participation. Performed in French using both American and French-speaking exchange students, the members of the French Club Players learn all aspects of production, including staging, choreography, set design, costumes, lighting and sound effects, and of course, techniques of acting. The group shares all responsibilities, including fund-raising and publicity. Recent productions include Ionesco's La leçon and La cantatrice chauve, Molière's L'avare and Tartuffe, Césaire's Unetempête, Cocteau's La machine infernale, a French-style Cabaret Theater, and scenes from Beckett's Fin de partie, O! Les beaux jours, and En Attendant Godot. For more information contact: Professor Valerie Saugera. valerie.saugera@uconn.edu French club coordinator : Johann Voulot. Johann.Voulot@uconn.edu |
