Italian Minor

Italian Literary Studies Minor
The minor concentration in Italian Literary Studies requires at least 18 credits in 3000 or 4000 level courses as specified in the Catalog. All of the courses listed below require Italian 1145, 1146, 1147, 1148, or the equivalent, as prerequisites, but those language courses do not count toward the minor. The following are the courses for completion:

  1. One course in composition and conversation: ILCS 3239 or 3240
  2. Both of the following: ILCS 3243 and 3244
  3. Two courses from the following: ILCS 3250, 3251-3252, 3253, 3254, 3259, 3261, 3262.
  4. One course from the following: ILCS 3237, 3238

Italian Cultural Studies Minor
Students electing the minor concentration in Italian Cultural Studies must complete a minimum of 18 credits from the following:

  1. Two courses on Italian Literature and / or Cinema in English: ILCS 3255W, 3256W, 3258W, 3260W
  2. Two courses on History: HIST 3325, 3370, 3460, 3463, 4994W
  3. One course on Art History: 3030, 3320W, 3340W
  4. One additional 3000 level course in Italian Cultural Studies or History. ILCS 3239 or 3240, 3270, and 4279 may count for group D.

Students must demonstrate proficiency in Italian at a level equivalent to ILCS 1147. The minor is offered by the Modern and Classical Languages Department.
